SOLD | 122 Vail Loop

Welcome to ANGELFLIGHT, a custom log home designed to resemble a bird preparing to take flight off a mountain ledge. This is a true showcase home constructed of 11-28″ handcrafted Canadian Engelmann Spruce logs that complement the local setting, while providing unique and contemporary character.  Meticulous attention was taken in all aspects of the construction, from the angular plan and warped roof planes (depicting a bird’s wings), to the large expanses of glass detail and the canted stone base. These are all features not common in log construction. You enter the home at the tail of the bird via the hand carved wooden entry door into a lowered ceiling gallery with custom made built-in log lamps providing a forest like feeling. Frank Lloyd Wright’s “compress and release” architectural concept of space inspired the design of the entry transitioning into the Great Room with its massive stone fireplace, three story ceiling and glass wall which exposes a breathtaking view of the valley, lake, and mountains. The large south-facing deck is accessible from the Dining / Kitchen area and Master Bedroom, and it steps down 18″ at its center to allow uninterrupted views while sitting in the Great Room. The Kitchen and Master Suite are located in the east and west wings of the house respectively, and there’s a large Loft that overlooks the Great Room. Another living area plus two more bedrooms are on the lower level, along with the garage, laundry room (including a custom dog bath), pantry and other storage rooms. Interior finishes include slate and wood flooring, sandstone and travertine countertops, along with quartzite and picture stone bath tiles, all of which enhance the unique character of each space. ANGELFLIGHT is truly a one-of-a-kind log home that needs to be toured to fully understand and appreciate.
